Twins Optical is therefore one of the few brands that have both the necessary certifications to guarantee the quality of its products, showing that they really care about the concept of a medical device.
The reading glasses for simple presbyopia are in fact Class I Medical Devices and can be manufactured only by authorized facilities and laboratories. But that is not all. We are never satisfied, to guarantee the maximum quality and safety in our products.

Using highly professional electronic equipment, ie the Frontifocometers, the product is analyzed based on:

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE CONTROL OF THE LENSES OF OUR EYEWEAR
Frames, temples, lenses: all the components of our glasses are meticulously checked one by one before delivery to the pharmacy, to guarantee you a top quality product without the slightest imperfection.
In particular in the lens control, the use of professional and technologically advanced equipment, such as the electronic Frontifocometers, allows to be sure that any imperfection is immediately highlighted. The lenses that do not correspond 100% to the quality requirements are discarded first and then destroyed.

Twins Optical glasses are not only characterized by the use of excellent materials for frames; all the components undergo numerous tests and procedures to evaluate the mechanics, the optical compartment and the resistance of our glasses.
“CERTOTTICA” CERTIFIED READING GLASSES
Twins Optical reading glasses are certified by the Italian institute Certottica, specialized in testing the quality and safety of optical materials widespread in the Italian market. Certottica carries out tests on behalf of manufacturers that guarantee compliance with European Directives and Regulations, as well as international technical standards on products for eye care. Below we show some of the tests to which our reading glasses are subjected to obtain the quality certification.
THE ESSENCE OF A UNIQUE PIECE
Whenever we talk about the testing procedures for glasses, the first factor that inevitably takes into consideration is the strength of the welding between the frame and the lenses. Glasses are delicate objects that undergo various stresses for the use we make of them; just think how many times, during the day, we remove them and put them back. If the elements that make up the glasses are not welded with sufficient strength between them, the risk is that the lenses come off the frame. It is important that the eyewear is a unique piece, welded to perfection.
HEAT-PROOF FRAMES
The frame of the glasses must withstand various environmental conditions, including heat. A series of tests are carried out to evaluate the response of the mount to the contact, or in proximity, with a heat source. During this type of test, the incandescent metal is approached in order to assess whether the frame of the glasses in turn generates combustion or resists the heat source. If the frame, during or in the time immediately following the contact, does not generate combustion, the test at ignition and flammability is exceeded.
PERFECT LENSES AND OPTICS
No accessory such as reading glasses is subjected to the same level of stress due to everyday use and lenses should ideally resist all these stresses. The integrity test of the lenses, which identifies the presence of any bubbles and scratches on the surface of the lens, is one of the primary aspects. Beyond the integrity of the lens, the tests also focus on verifying the optical power and transmittance range.
EYEWEAR THAT DOES NOT DEFORM
The mechanical tests start from what is called dimensional stability at high temperature. By examining the distance between the ends of the frames of the frames, the ability of the polymers to evaluate the measurements as the environmental conditions change is evaluated.
SWEAT RESISTANT FRAMES
As we all know, glasses are constantly in contact with the skin when we use them. The sweat resistance test is carried out by immersing the frame in a solution of lactic acid, sodium chloride and bidistilled water. Through this procedure it is possible to observe how the eyewear reacts, from the point of view of color, with spots or changes in tone. This is the reason why the test is repeated several times.
THE IMPORTANCE OF STRENGTH OF LENSES
Lenses are perhaps the most important part of good reading glasses. Our products are submitted to the mechanical strength test of the lenses to verify the resistance to the stresses to which we subject them during the day.
All Twins Optical eyeglasses are also subjected to other accurate and meticulous mechanical and optical tests in order to obtain certification from Certottica.
Thanks to these tests we are sure to offer quality glasses, able to withstand the mechanical stresses and the environmental impacts to which they are constantly subjected when they accompany us during our days.

In particular in terms of lenses’ control, the use of professional equipment such as electronic Lensmeters, gives the certainty that any imperfection will be immediately highlighted. Lenses that do not match 100% with the quality requirements are discarded and destroyed. As a DM Class I, in order to ensure the traceability of the product, MAST INDUSTRIA ITALIANA applies THE NUMBER LOT, the legal brand, the power expressed in diopters, the CE mark, the pupillary distance, the model name and the manufacturer inside the temples.
